Advantages of Dental Implants
Dental Implants are a permanent solution to tooth loss. In general, they are stronger and more durable than other restorative options. An implant can support a single crown to replace a missing tooth. It can be combined with other implants to support a bridge to replace multiple missing tooth. Implants are very successful in conjunction with dentures to increase retention.

The Procedure
The procedures can vary depending on the size, location, and presence of existing bone and teeth. Assuming an adequate supply of healthy bone, a series of drills are used to slowly enlarge the bone to the appropriate size of the implant. The implant is a titanium microetched surface which osseointegrates (grows) into the bond. The implant is slowly inserted into the bone and then typically allowed to heal for a period of time from 3 to 6 months. In some cases during this healing period, a non-functional temporary restoration may be attached to the implant for aesthetic purposes. In other cases, a small metal cap will serve to cover and protect the implant. After this healing period, an impression is taken and the final crown is fabricated.

Patients generally report very little discomfort after implant placement and success rates are generally upwards of 98%.
