Root Canals and Fillings
The truth is, root canal therapy doesn't have to be like the painful, horror stories that you've heard about. We use advanced techniques in anesthesia to get your tooth numb and the most modern rotary endodontic files to clean, shape, and seal your tooth. It is not uncommon to fall asleep during the procedure. Patients comment that it didn't hurt at all.
A root canal may be needed:
- When decay has reached the pulp (nerve) of the tooth.
- The tooth has been damaged beyond healing itself and is causing pain.
- The pulp of the tooth has died and is causing inflammation or swelling.
- There is an abscess at the end of the root.
Root canal treatment takes the pain away and saves a tooth that otherwise must be extracted. In most cases your tooth will require a crown after root canal therapy in order to protect the tooth from fracture.
